Jen Dintini Announces Candidacy for State Senate
For Immediate Release
(Plum, PA)- Today, Jen Dintini announced her candidacy for the Republican nomination for State Senate in the 45th Senatorial District representing Eastern Allegheny County. The seat is being vacated by Senator Jim Brewster.
Jen lives in Plum Borough with her husband Mike and their children. Jen is the 3rd generation owner of her family’s business, which provides security guard service for entities throughout the country. In 2010, Jen noticed a significant gap in the security industry for women, so she created her own certified 100% Women Owned Company.
“Our companies’ work affords me the opportunity to work all throughout the district,” Dintini said, “From Plum to Elizabeth, McKeesport to Baldwin, I’ve met great people who are looking for a fresh start for our region.”
Jen believes the politicians who have served the region have failed our communities, saying, “We have sent the same kind of legislators to Harrisburg for decades and keep getting the same results. It’s time for a fresh perspective to get things done.”
Jen is an active part of her community serving on the Plum Mustang Foundation, Plum Baseball & Softball Association and several other social organizations. She is a member of Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO). Finally, she is a member of her local Parent Teacher Organization in Plum.
“I am a lifelong resident of this area. I graduated from Plum and am a proud alum of the University of Pittsburgh. I had opportunities that I worry won’t be here for my kids in the future. I’ve seen our area be taken for granted by the politicians who are supposed to be working for us. When this seat became open it was a wake up call that the time is now to make a change for good for our entire region. I’m not going to wait for someone else to do the things I think need to be done. So I am stepping forward to run for this seat.”
Jen said that her top priorities are job creation, public safety, education, and mental health.
“As a small business owner who works in the public safety space, I know how hard it is to make it with all the things working against you. Whether it is big corporations crowding out the smaller companies or even our own government putting restraints on businesses, we need a senator who will stand with the little guy.”
Jen is a proud employer of union workers, “I believe in the union way of life and most of my employees are union employees making a living wage, with good health care. I’m proud of that. I think we need to ensure that people understand the many opportunities for training in good paying, union jobs.”
Jen’s focus on public safety and mental health comes from her work in the security industry, “Crime is a real problem in our communities. We must ensure our police have the resources they need. I’m a proud donor to causes supporting our police. So much of what our police must deal with is rooted in our country’s mental health crisis. We must invest in mental health services to properly address those in need of them. We must be clear-eyed that the lack of growth in our communities is a root cause of these crises.”
As a mom of school-age children, Jen said she is a strong believer in education, “It all starts with education. Someone with a good foundation from their education will likely have the tools to deal with their mental health and put them on a path to being a productive member of our community. That’s why I want to ensure our schools are fully funded and parents are empowered to ensure their children have the best education possible.”
Dintini concluded, “This is the beginning of a very exciting conversation. Over the next nine months, I look forward to meeting the voters of the 45th District and better understanding the hopes, concerns, and needs of each community. I know our region can do better, and I’m ready to help it do just that.”
